(These stories swing both ways on the het-gen scale, depending on the reader and what they see going on between the lines. That's a little awkward in fanfic, where people like to know what they're getting - and like it to be clearly one or the other - but it was a necessary part of these two stories, where what defines their relationship is so overwhelmed by other things.)
